Summer Fun!

Camps that encourage the creative performer – those drawn to telling stories, singing, being in front of a group and creating a character.  Offerings range from 1-3 weeks and accommodate ages 4-17. 


Stage One (Ages 6-7) – $95

Youngsters will have a wonderful week getting introduced to the theatre and stepping on stage!  A fun-filled, no pressure introduction to acting or short refresher.  The final class includes a staged “performance,” complete with Certificate Ceremony.

Stage Two (Ages 8-10) – $95

Camp Improv (Ages 11+) – $95 

Log off the screens and see how much fun you can have working together with your peers to create hilarious moments!  Explore the concepts of improvisations through games and scenes in an incredibly supportive atmosphere. Laughing and fun are guaranteed! Certificates handed out at the final camp.

Find Your Voice (Ages 12+) – $195 

Campers will participate in a variety of fun and enriching classes that explore different vocal styles and genres, all designed for maximum enjoyment and personal growth. Final class will highlight solo performances on our main stage. Certificates handed out after final performance.

Swashbuckling (Ages 11+) – $150 

This exciting physical camp introduces students to the dynamic world of stage fighting in creative and safe ways.  Campers explore storytelling through movement, air broadswords, unarmed combat and plastic sword battles. Exercises are specifically geared for young actors to utilize their bodies and age-appropriate stage combat techniques. Certificates of completion!

Macbeth, 2019

Offering “Shakespeare in Shorts” for children ages 8-13 and the “Shakespeare Teen Workshop” for ages 14-18. Students will perform Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Classes run for 6 weeks and culminate in a main stage performance.


Shakespeare in Shorts (Ages 8-13) – $250

This camp introduces students to the literature of Shakespeare through the performance of shortened adaptations in the original language. The play, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, is divided into five acts, with students assigned a different role in each act, allowing all to play a variety of roles and to learn the play from different perspectives. The charming, but bare bones approach of performing Shakespeare in t-shirts and shorts guarantees an immersion in the imaginative language of the bard. The culmination includes two main-stage performances, in tandem with the Teen Shakespeare Workshop.

  • Mondays & Wednesdays (with additional Fridays) – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with Kari-Anne Innes

  • TECH WEEK – JULY 19-23, each day from 10:00 am to 1 pm
    • PERFORMANCES in Theatre – JULY 23 @ 7:00 pm and JULY 24 @ 2:30 pm 
    • Certificate Ceremony on JULY 24 immediately after the performance, on the main stage, at 3:30 pm.
    • PAYMENT PLAN AVAILABLE – $125 deposit due with registration by June 1, $125 due July 1.

Teen Shakespeare Workshop (Ages 14-18) – $275

This intensive six-week workshop will focus on Shakespeare’s, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. Students will be cast in roles, learn all aspects of acting in a production, including the use of the original language and iambic pentameter “clues,” along with historical references to clothing, style and behavior.  A “Yard Show” will also be a part of the production, giving students the opportunity to re-create the atmosphere of The Globe Theatre of Shakespeare’s time, by performing as jugglers, clowns, and musicians. This workshop features two main-stage performances and pre-show participation in Chicago Street’s annual Shakespeare in The Park production in Central Park Plaza.

Booth Camp!

Camps that encourage the creative artist – those who draw, paint, listen to music, watch YouTube videos and make their own.  Offerings range from 1-3 weeks and accommodate ages 10-17.


Booth Camp ( Ages 10+) – $95 each or both for $175! 

Fascinated with the lights and sound while watching a play?  This camp is for you!  So, maybe you don’t want to be on stage but you want to be a part of the theatre.  This week-long camp will provide specialized instruction as a “Booth Technician.”  Training on our advanced computerized lighting board and sound system, students will learn how to identify, gel, hang and focus lighting instruments, mark designated cues in a sample script, program cues in the computerized board, and finally, apply their newly acquired skills in class. Anyone interested in becoming an Apprentice in our Mentor Program must first successfully complete either Lighting and/or Sound Booth Camp.  Certificate of Completion Awarded on last day of camp.

  • Lighting – Monday-Friday, June 14-18 — 1-3:00 pm with Award-winning lighting designer, Marcia Burbage
  • Sound – Monday-Friday, June 14-18 — 3-5:00 pm with Award-winning sound designer, Paul Braun

Be Backstage! (Ages 10+) – $125

Curious about what happens backstage?  This camp is for you!  This fun-filled hands-on camp will allow students to explore all aspects of what happens “behind the scenes” before and during a play. A unique opportunity to learn how to gather props, design, set and call cues for lights and sound, and ‘work’ as backstage crew, stage-managing and Booth Technicians, running sound and lights.  Students will be mentored and given the chance to crew the Shakespeare in Shorts and Teen Shakespeare Workshop productions of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. Certificate of Completion Awarded on  JULY 24.

  • July 19-23 — 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 3:00-5:00 pm
  • Production Crew during Performances – July 23 at 6:30 pm & 24 at 2:00

Anyone may enroll for an age-appropriate camp.  There are no auditions necessary.

Open registration for our Summer Semester will begin Monday, May 1, 2021.  All camps have a maximum enrollment of 12 and a minimum of 6.

Seats are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.  If enrollment for a particular camp fills, we will create a “waiting list” and notify you if there is a cancellation.

Payment or deposit must be made at the time of registration.  If payment is not received within 24 hours of registering, enrollment will NOT be guaranteed.

A completed registration form and signed refund policy/medical release is required for all students.

TUITION & PAYMENT INFORMATION 

Tuition for Summer Camps range between $85-$275, and include a Student Membership.

Tuition for Shakespeare in Shorts & Teen Shakespeare Workshop includes Student Membership and a T-Shirt.

Payment must be made at the time of registration in order to guarantee enrollment.

REFUND POLICY 

Withdraw BEFORE attending first class of any camp = $25 withheld.

Withdraw BETWEEN first & third class of at least a two-week camp = 50% will be withheld.

Withdraw AFTER the second class for any camp = NO refund given.
