Summer is approaching, which means the Children’s Theatre Workshop summer camps are also approaching! As of last Friday, the classroom has been cleaned and organized and is ready for students.
This summer we are happy to offer seven different camps to our students, including two brand new camps: Theatre Games and an Audition Workshop. Theatre Games will introduce students to the exercises of the renowned theatre educator, Viola Spolin. Her theatre games are designed to expose students to theatre skills such as active listening, responding, and creative expression through ensemble work in a fun and exciting way. The Audition Workshop will give students the opportunity to learn how to succeed in the sometimes-intimidating audition process.
On top of these fresh camps, Children’s Theatre Works will be bringing back the favorites: Introducing the Theatre, Creative Characters, the Puppet Workshop, Be Backstage!, and the Shakespeare Workshop for teens. Through these seven offerings, students will be able to dabble in one or many areas of the theatre that interest them most. Camps are filling fast, so be sure to register as soon as possible. You won’t want your kids to miss out on the opportunity to have a fun summer at Chicago Street Theatre!

Be sure, also, to take advantage of the incredible opportunity to see the WORLD PREMIERE of Brother of All, an original play by Resident Playwright Jim Henry, who will have another of his original works running Off-Broadway in New York City in June! After seeing the play, I can personally attest to the fact that this piece will provide a thought-provoking night of entertainment to all who see it.
