An Evening With
JIM PETERIK
and Friends
The Man. The Legend. That Music...
Oh, yes, that music... One of the most successful songwriters of the last 40 years, Jim Peterik first came to national prominence with a band formed with his high school buddies, The Ides Of March, and their classic smash hit Vehicle.
Jim followed that with a wildly successful career as co-founder and songwriter of the band Survivor, writing a string of Top-10 hits such as The Search Is Over, High On You, I Can't Hold Back, Summer Nights, and a song that has become a standard rock anthem (and a Starbucks commercial), Eye Of The Tiger, for which he won a Grammy.
He's also written smash hits for 38 Special (including Rocking Into The Night, Hold On Loosely, and Wild-Eyed Southern Boys), Sammy Hagar (Heavy Metal), Lynyrd Skynyrd, REO Speedwagon, Cinderella and a host of others.
The Ides Of March reunited in 1991, and have been going strong ever since. Jim also produces World Stage, a musical collaboration with his friends that has resulted in one album so far and a regular series of concerts. And, as if that weren't enough, he is very dedicated to developing young local talent, including most of our guest artists.
Another of Jim's current projects is the band A Pride Of Lions, which features Jim and Valpo's own Toby Hitchcock on vocals and is a return to the melodic rock genre that Jim helped define with Survivor, and is taking Europe by storm. Whew.
To add to all that, Jim has just released his first solo album in years, "Above The Storm," and he'll be performing some brand new material from it.
This time we'll follow the same "County Stage" format that we did last year. Instead of an opening act, Jim will be joined on stage by his Ides brothers Chuck Soumar and Larry Millas, Pride of Lions vocalist Toby Hitchcock, and anyone else he decides to bring along. Just think of it as World Stage Lite...
The last three shows have featured some of the best acoustic rock you're ever going to see, and if you know anything about Jim, this show will be no different. You're going to see a group of musicians playing music and having fun because it's a passion, not because it's a job. Jim always says, "I love playing CST. It feels like we're jamming in my living room."
The most frequent comment I've heard after a Peterik show is, "When I hear that music, I feel like a teenager again!" There is no way you can't feel good after Jim gets done with you.
Last time we completely sold out and had to turn people away at the door. Don't let that happen to you - call and make your reservations early.

Special Guests
Chuck Soumar

Chuck Soumar originally joined The Ides Of March right before they released Vehicle, and he was the one responsible for "getting the band back together" in 1991. Quite the versatile musician, he's a member of the famous "Babushka Brass" and also plays an assortment of percussion.
Larry Millas

Larry Millas is the original Ide. He founded the band, then called the ShonDels, in 1966. Larry can also play an assortment of instruments, and he is a world-class recording and live-sound engineer and producer. Larry usually can be found driving the faders at Jim's World Stage Studios when he's not producing a new artist or playing out with his best friends for the last 40 years, The Ides Of March.
Lisa McClowry

Native Chicagoan and established singer/songwriter Lisa McClowry sang the theme song "Bridge to the Stars" in the recent motion picture release The Wild Thornberrys. Along with Mark Mothersbaugh of the well-known 80's band Devo, and long time musical partner, Lavant Coppock, McClowry co-wrote and sang a featured song "Through the Eyes of A Child" in the motion picture The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. She also provided the singing voice for the animated princess in the box office hit The Rugrats in Paris.
Toby Hitchcock

Toby is no stranger to our stage...in fact, his father was the pastor of the congregation that owned our building before we bought it and converted it into a theatre. Yes, it's like if you went away to college and your parents rented your room out to someone else who completely remodeled it, but he grew up singing in the building, so it's just natural that he come back and sing some more. And his performance last time of Man Against The World gave 150 people goosebumps, even with the furnace on.
Toby is the phenomenal, soaring voice behind Jim's newest project, Pride Of Lions, which has taken Europe by storm and is starting to gain momentum over here. Listen to Toby sing and see if you don't get chills -- he's got a voice tailor-made for melodic rock. And we grew him right here.
Jeff Boyle

Jeff is another Peterik protege'. He sang on several songs on Jim's World Stage album several years back, and has been an integral part of the World Stage live shows ever since. He's also the veteran of four albums of his own. Jeff's strong voice and engaging personality makes him a perfect fit for the evening.
and there may be more....you never know.
